These terms apply to anything you buy or hire from Harrington Hats. They are short on purpose. If anything is unclear, please just ask.
Who we are
Harrington Hats is run by Sinéad Harrington, Whitethorn, Tirhogar Rd, Killenard, Co. Laois, R32 K4C8, Ireland. Email sinead@harringtonhats.com or call 087 359 7755.
Buying hats and accessories
Every hat for sale is handmade and one of a kind, so once it sells, it is gone. Photos are as accurate as we can make them, but colours can look slightly different on different screens. Prices are in euro.
Delivery
- We deliver within the Republic of Ireland only.
- Delivery of a hat costs €12. All other items cost €5. If your order includes a hat, you pay €12 for the whole order, not both.
- Hired hats are sent by next day delivery. The hirer pays the cost of posting the hat back.
- Orders are usually posted within 24 hours of payment and arrive within normal An Post first class times.
- You can also collect from our hat room in Killenard by appointment. Choose “Local pickup” at checkout.
Changing your mind (returns and refunds)
If you buy online, you have the right to cancel and return your order within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason.
- Please email us to tell us you are returning something.
- Send it back within 14 days of telling us, unworn and in its original condition and packaging. You are responsible for the cost of posting it back to us, so we recommend using a tracked service.
- Once we receive it, we refund the price of the item and the standard delivery cost within 14 days, to the card you paid with.
- For hygiene reasons, we cannot take back hair accessories (scrunchies, clips and headbands) that have been worn or opened.
If something arrives faulty or damaged, tell us straight away and we will put it right with a repair, replacement or refund. In that case we cover the return postage.
Hiring a hat
Hats for hire are booked by enquiry, not through the shop. Hire prices on the site are for one occasion, usually 3 to 5 days. If you need a hat for longer, just ask. We can usually arrange it, sometimes at an additional cost depending on availability.
When you book, we will ask you to sign a hire agreement with these terms:
- The hat and any accessories remain the property of Harrington Hats at all times.
- The full hire fee is payable when you reserve.
- The full hire fee will be refunded for cancellations made 7 days or more before the hire date. It will be kept for cancellations made less than 7 days before the hire date.
- A security deposit is taken on collection for all items. It is returned once the item is back with us in the condition it was hired. All items are fully inspected on return.
- We may keep the full deposit if an item is returned marked or damaged in any way. That includes, but is not limited to, dents, holes, pen marks, make-up and rain marks. Please make sure the hat does not come back smelling of smoke, perfume or hair products.
- If a hat or accessory is damaged beyond repair, the hirer pays the full purchase price. The replacement cost is shown on your hire agreement.
- Hats and accessories are hired per occasion. Longer periods can be arranged, as above.
- If you will be late returning an item, please let us know. We rarely need to charge for this, but a late return without notice is charged at €10 per day.
- If a previous hirer does not return a hat you have booked, or it comes back damaged, we will do our best to find a suitable replacement. We cannot guarantee the exact style and colour. If we cannot find a suitable alternative, our liability is limited to refunding your hire charge. We are also not liable for any delay or failure to deliver caused by circumstances outside our control.
